This return match was drawn, as had been the earlier game between the two teams at Swindon in July. For Wiltshire, there were 2 fives, 13 fours and 3 threes in Radcliffe's 102. For Surrey 2nd XI, Harper's 102 not out contained 1 five and 14 fours. Sproston's 66 included 1 five and 7 fours, and Baker's 55 contained 1 five and 10 fours. Miller and Smart shared the wicket-keeping duties for Wiltshire. The 3 stumpings by Miller (2) and Smart (1) in the Surrey innings were the joint highest for the season. Sproston, who was making his debut for Surrey, had been the vice-captain of the West Indian touring team that had played 17 matches against first-class and minor county teams between mid-June and mid-August.
[Missing: Fall of wickets; large partnerships; in Wiltshire 1st inns duration and twos in Radcliffe's 102; in Wiltshire 2nd inns batting order, and who bowled the no ball; in Surrey inns duration and threes and twos in Harper's 102*.]
