Suffolk won this return match by 117 runs at 6.15 pm on the second day with 15 minutes to spare, after Hertfordshire had required 288 runs to win in just under 2½ hours. Suffolk had also won the match between the two sides at Watford in June. On the first day the train bringing the Hertfordshire players had been late and the match did not start until a few minutes before 12.00 pm. Penfold and Trudgett both suffered from strains that affected their bowling. For the losers, White carried his bat though the Hertfordshire first innings for 51 not out, an innings of 2½ hours. Coleman took 7 wickets for 85 runs in the Suffolk first innings. No Suffolk batsman reached fifty, though Hill-Wood scored 48 not out and Ireland 48.
[Missing: Umpires; extras breakdown; part fall of wickets; in Hertfordshire first innings runs batting one short in all sources listed, and boundaries in White's 51 not out.]
