Devon won this return match by an innings and 98 runs on the second day. Devon had also won when the two sides met at Poole in July. For the winners, there were 11 fours, 10 threes and 11 twos in Harrison's 131. Cruwys's 52 contained 6 fours. For the losers, there were 8 fours in Disney-Roebuck's 64. The 163 runs conceded by Stacey were the joint highest in an innings during the season. A collection on the first day yielded £3 17s for Aston's benefit. N B Udal withdrew from the Dorset team at the last minute because of a shoulder injury. Manfield took his place and batted in the second innings.
