Devon won this return match by an innings and 58 runs 20 minutes after lunch on the second day. The match between the two teams at Exeter in July had been drawn. For the winners, Light's 101 contained 2 sixes, 10 fours and 6 threes. He also took 9 wickets in the match for 105 runs. Boles 67 included 11 fours and Cruwys's 53 1 five and 6 fours. In the Devon innings Light and Grahame added 98 runs for the seventh wicket. For Cornwall, Tresawna scored 61, an innings of 2½ hours. Light has forced to retire after a ball he had played rebounded off the pitch and hit him in the eye. He batted again at the fall of the fifth wicket. The 155 runs conceded by Humphreys were the thbird highest in an innings during the season.
