The return game between these two sides was drawn, with Yorkshire 2nd XI gaining a point for first innings lead. The match at Jesmond in June had been won by Yorkshire 2nd XI. For the home team, Rudston's 159 contained 19 fours, 5 threes and 6 twos, an innings of 3 and three-quarter hours. Myers's 92 included 13 fours and Bedford's 56 included 9 fours. Rudston and Bedford put on 112 runs for the third wicket and Rudston and Myers 143 for the fifth. For the visitors, there were 13 fours in Marshall's 83 not out, and in the Northumberland second innings he and Hartley put on a match-saving 94 runs for the eighth wicket. R W Frank had an injured finger, so Swalwell led the Yorkshire side in his absence.
