Oxfordshire won this return match at around 5.00 pm on the second day by an innings after enforcing the follow-on. By doing so, the visitors completed the 'double' over Bedfordshire, having won the earlier encounter between the two teams at Oxford a week before. For Oxfordshire,
Smith scored 84 and Holloway 55. In the Oxfordshire innings, Bassett and Holloway put on 101 runs for the first wicket and Bradford and Smith 109 for the fourth, which was the largest partnership for that wicket during the season. The 5 catches held by Arnold in the match were the most by a wicket-keeper during the season, and equalled the previous record for the competition which had been achieved on three previous occasions. It is estimated that 600 spectators were present on the first day, and 400 on the second. In the Bedfordshire first inning, when dismissing Kitchener, P Rogers took his two hundredth wicket in championship matches.
