This match was drawn after Buckinghamshire had followed on 86 runs behind on first innings. In the visitors second innings, Wright and Mitchell put on 205 runs for the fourth wicket, which was the highest partnership of the season and a new record for the competition, exceeding the 157 added by H Bassett and A Rogers for Oxfordshire against Berkshire at Oxford in 1897.
Both batsmen were dismissed at the same score of 287. Mitchell scored 96 and Wright 85. Gresson's 82 in the first innings contained 12 fours. For Wiltshire, Radcliffe's 86 included 16 fours and Medlicott scored 54. In the Wiltshire innings, Miller and Smart added 63 runs for the ninth wicket. The match aggregate of 848 runs was the second highest of the season, and the 54 overs bowled by Wright was also the second highest in an innings.
