John Swanney was the mainstay of the Accrington innings with an unbeaten 43 as the home side struggled to 111-8 against a Nelson side with Pat Calderbank in fine form, taking 5-31.
Tony Gallagher made 15 and opener Geoff Hayhurst 18 for Accrington with Mike Chapple also picking up 3-44 for the visitors.
