A dispute arose when at Peninsular Cricket Club, on 19 for 3 wickets, wanted to take on another player (H.Warburton) who had arrived late. The Lambton side reused to co-operate and when the score had reached 40 they left the field and the Peninsular Cricket Club were given the match by the umpires. This was the first defeat Lambton had suffered all season
