Play on the first day commenced at 10.00 a.m. and concluded at 4.05 p.m. when bad light stopped play. Play on the second day commenced at 8.30 a.m. and concluded at 6.23 p.m. while the third day commenced at 9.50 a.m. and the match concluded at 11.36 a.m. on the fall of the final New South Wales Colts wicket.
On the first afternoon of the match JR Poole received a nasty blow on the toe while facing the bowling of DA Nash.
The third wicket partnership of 206 between A Symonds and MR Hayward set a new record for that wicket in the competition. MR Hayward's innings of 227 is the highest recorded for Queensland in these matches. This was the largest victory by an innings in Sydney Gregory Cup matches and the first by Queensland.
With the match concluding inside three days a one day match was arranged to be played on the scheduled fourth day, this match also being won quite easily by Queensland Colts.
