Secretary to Treasury Committee on the proposal for a State guarantee against war risks for shipping 1906-07. Secretary to Royal Commission on Historical Monuments (England) 1908. During the Great War (1914-18), Deputy Director of Finance and Controller of Labour, Finance and of Munitions, Housing Schemes for Ministry of Munitions. CB 1919. First Chairman of the Irish Land Trust 1924. Member of the Royal Commission on London Squares and Open Spaces 1927. Knighted 1927. Member of the New Survey of London Life and Labour 1928. Secretary of permanent Commission for the scheduling and preserving of ancient monuments 1931-33. FSA School Treasurer of Royal School of Archaeological Institute.
