Biography:DSO (1916), CMG (1918), Mentioned in Despatches (15 Oct 1915, 13 Nov 1916, 7 Nov 1917, 8 Nov 1918). Fought in India, China (Boxer Rebellion), South Africa (Boer War) and Western Europe (First World War). In 1911 he qualified as a German translator. Died a victim of the pan-European influenza epidemic, and at the time he was a Brevet Colonel, acting Brigadier-General.
