Former Ramsbottom captain Maurice Haslam has passed away at the age of 77.
 
Maurice took 195 wickets at 21.3 with his right off spin and he also hit 1669 runs at 9.1 in 400 Lancashire League games for the club. 
He captained the club in 1975 and also in his final season before retirement in 1991. 
After retiring from playing Maurice filled many roles for the club, continuing Alan Morris' work in preserving the history of the club in the Long Room with his friend and former colleague Ian Bell. 
Maurice was held in high esteem by everyone who was fortunate enough to have known him and he will be sorely missed on the Lancashire League circuit. 
Maurice's sons Jonathan and Michael also played for Ramsbottom. 
Maurice's funeral will be held at 10.30am on Thursday October 26th at East Lancs Crematorium and after at Ramsbottom CC for food, drinks and to share memories of Maurice.
