Rangana Herath happy with words from Indian Little Master Gavaskar by Bipin Dani

Mumbai, Aug. 8 : Sri Lanka's 31-year-old left arm orthodox spinner Rangana Herath was over the moon when India's Little Master Sunil Gavaskar, after the heroic performance against Australia in the Galle Test, where he became the second Sri Lankan hat-trick bowler, has praised him.

Comparing Hearth with India's Padmakar Shivalkar, Gavaskar, in his column, Gavaskar says, "Herath has a simple uncomplicated run-up to the crease and delivery which doesn't seem to put any strain on his body. So despite the extra weight he can bowl long spells. His run-up and action are quite reminiscent of Padmakar Shivalkar, who also with his easy run-up and action could bowl as many overs as his captain wanted even in the fiercest of heat.

"I am really happy to hear those words from one of the greatest and I appreciate too", Herath, speaking exclusively from Sri Lanka, said on Sunday.

"I have not seen Shivalkar bowling (Herath was only 10 when Shivalkar's First Class career ended in 1988) but have heard about him being a good First-Class bowler having played more than 100 FC matches and claimed over 500 wickets".

"We are in different era but if opportunity comes, would like to meet him (Shivalkar) one day".

Biggest regret
The hat-trick bowler's biggest regret is that his parents were not alive to watch his recent performance. "My both parents, who supported me all these years, passed away few years ago. They would have been very happy to see me grabbing this hat-trick. Hope they watched my performance from heaven".

The wife watched husband's heroic performance on TV. She had to be at home to look after my two kids but she was in front of TV to watch my hat-trick", Herath signed off.
