Day 1:
The first match played between these nationalities commenced yesterday on Leinster ground Rathmines Dublin. The weather was beautifully fine, and the attendance of spectators large.

Scotland won the toss, and sent in Evans and Macfarlan. The latter made the highest score (27), the innings closing for 65.

The Irish started before luncheon, and when the bell rang Cronin and E. Fitzgerald had put together 31. On resuming Fitzgerald was caught by Wauchope at 37, and Cronin followed soon after, having put together 25. Robinson's bowling disposed of W.D. Hamilton and Woodgate for 4 and 0 respectively.

Hynes made a capital stand, and when caught by Wauchope his score equalled that of Fitzgerald at 37. L. Hamilton and Penny were then together, and when the innings closed the total had reached 142.

The Scottish team then went in for their second innings at 5.30, and, in a hour when play ended for the day, they had compiled 43 for five wickets.

This match was concluded yesterday, when Scotland continued their second innings with disastrous results, the total at the close of the innings being 51, leaving the Irishmen victorious by an innings and 26 runs. J.P. Fitzgerald took three wickets for 21 runs and six for 9 runs.
