Player: | Zain Abbas |
Zain Abbas is an aggressive left handed batsman whom the PCB has identified as a player worth developing. Last month he was included in the PCB's fast track program for u19 players. Cricistan.com caught up with Zain Abbas to find out a little bit more about this exciting young batsman.

Speaking exclusively to Cricistan.com, Zain spoke about how his love for cricket started.
He said "Although no-one from my family has played first class cricket before me, my older brother used to play club cricket. It was through him that I became interested in playing cricket myself. I'm from Kabirwala which is in the Khanewal district of Multan and I'm the first person from Kabirwala to play first class cricket."
Cricistan then asked Zain if he knew Rao Iftikhar and Shabbir Ahmed who were also from Khanewal.
"I haven't met Shabbir Ahmed yet but I have played with Rao Iftikhar a few times. I'd really like to meet Inzamam who is also from Multan but I haven't had the chance yet." Zain told Cricistan.com
Like Inzamam, Zain is one of those lucky cricketers who is ambidextrous.
He told Cricistan.com "I'm naturally right handed and I bowl some basic off-spin with my right hand but I bat with my left hand. Nobody coached or encouraged me to bat left-handed. It just so happened that when I first picked a bat up, I started to bat left handed and I never stopped."
The answer to that question probably lies in Zain's reply about which batsman he models himself on.
Finally Cricistan.com asked Zain to describe his batting and also to tell us the secret behind him making big centuries.
"I'm a naturally aggressive left-handed batsman and I like to keep the score ticking at a good rate. I model myself on Saeed Anwar who is one of my batting heroes. There's no secret to scoring big hundreds. I just tell myself that even after I've scored a hundred runs, the game still isn't over. If anything I would say that as a batsman you have to be hungry for runs, a batsman should never be satisfied with his score. He should always think that he could have scored a few more." Zain concluded.
Cricistan.com would like to thank Zain Abbas for his time and we hope that his rich vein of form continues.(Article: The opinions expressed in this article are those of the author only.
