Event: | Bangladesh in British Isles 2010 |
The English side powered by emphatic tons from Andrew Strauss and Jonathan Trott crushed the hapless and listless Bangladeshi side to claim the series 2-1. Ravi Bopara produced his best ODI bowling performance as the Bangladeshi batsmen barrin Tamim Iqbal refused to take on the English bowlers.

Send into bat first on a pitch that had a tinge of green and under overcast conditions. Mortaza set the ball as he removed a nervous Kiesweeter for a duck. From then on it was Strauss and Trott show as they demolished an unimaginative Bangladeshi bowlers with some excellent strokeplay. Strauss in particular was the aggressor of the two as he hammered the bowlers black and blue. Trott meanwhile was happy to go at his own pace as they added 250 in 40 overs. Bopara then joined the fun as he plastered the Bangladeshi bowlers all around.
England in their 50 overs scored 347 for the loss of seven wickets.
Chasing a mammoth score of 348 Tamim Iqbal tried to blast his way out but a slower delivery from Shahzad ended his stay in the middle. From there on it was a slow death as the Bangladeshi batsmen failed to assert their dominance over the English bowlers. Some poor shot selection and a run-out had the visitors floundering at 86 for 5 and the writing was literally on the wall. Mahmudullah batted dourly for his 42 as Bopara chipped away with wickets. Finally the visitors crashed to a heavy defeat thus handing the series on a platter to the hosts.
