Fast bowler Tanvir Ahmed expressed delight at being named to Pakistan's Test squad and said he would strive to secure a starting berth on the upcoming tour of England.

"I am delighted that my hard work has been rewarded," Tanvir told AFP after being named in the 17-man squad. "It's true that your hard work pays and now I will do my best to get a permanent place in the Pakistan team."
The 31-year-old, Kuwaiti-born Tanvir has had to wait for his chance but he sparkled for domestic side Karachi as they powered to the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy last season, grabbing 97 first-class wickets in all.
Starting next month, Pakistan will play two Twenty20 matches and two Tests against Australia in England. They also play four Tests, two Twenty20s and five one-dayers against England on the tour, which ends on September 22.
Rashid Latif, Pakistan's former captain and a mentor of Tanvir, said the paceman's efforts down the years had paid off.
"Tanvir's biggest asset is his perseverance," said Latif, who runs cricket academies across Pakistan.
The Pakistan team fly from Colombo to London on Saturday. Tanvir will join them after Pakistan's two Twenty20 matches against Australia at Edgbaston on July 5 and 6. Pakistan and Australia play the first Test at Lord's from July 13.
