The Bangladeshi batsmen for the second time in the series found themselves in trouble under overcast conditions as they went down without a fight. The English bowlers did extremely well as they got ten Bangladeshi wickets in one session to send Bangladesh crashing to an innings defeat. Steve Finn once again starred with the ball as he got another five wicket haul to his name.

 

Rain delayed the start by around one hour and forty five minutes forcing the match officials to take lunch early. Once the innings got underway the English seam bowlers under overcast conditions produced an excellent display of seam bowling that left the Bangladeshi innings in tatters. First innings hero Tamim Iqbal could survive just two balls before an unplayable lifter from James Anderson was edged behind. Imrul Kayes' problems with short pitched deliveries continued as he failed to keep his pull of Finn down and he was consumed at square leg while a perfect out-swinger from Anderson was too hot to handle for Junaid Siddique. At 18 for 3 it was evident that the innings was heading for a quick finish. Finn continued to dish out the bouncer treatment and Jahurul Islam was good enough only to fend it behind the stumps.

 

Mohammad Ashraful tried to counterattack as he collected a couple of boundaries to his name but a short delivery from Anderson was good enough to remove the right-hander. Shahzad soon joined the party as he removed Shakib al Hasan with a beautifully bowled leg-cutter that crashed through the defence of the Bangladeshi skipper to leave the visitors reeling at 39 for 6. Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah gave some respect to the score as they added 37 before both became victims of Finn.

 

Steve Finn continued to have honeymoon with his selection in the English side as he got his second five wicket haul of his career in his just third match. Bangladesh in end were dismissed for 123 as England won the match by an innings and 80 runs.
