Ground: | New Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg |
Scorecard: | South Africa v England |
Event: | England in South Africa 2009/10 |
The opening one-day international between England and South Africa at the Wanderers was abandoned without a ball bowled after the heavy rain continued. The umpires made two inspections and called the game off when it became clear the weather wasn't going to allow a contest.

Both teams stayed in their hotels which gave a clear indication as to the prospects. England were forced to train indoors yesterday including making use of a covered car park for fielding practice.
Paul Collingwood will have to wait until Sunday to become England's most capped ODI player. He remains level with Alec Stewart on 170 appearances.
