Marcus Trescothick with the bat and bowlers Thomas, Philips and Turner performed their tasks admirably as Somerset crushed Gloucestershire by eight wickets.

Gloucestershire had won the toss and decided to make the first use of the pitch but, their innings never took off. Thomas struck twice in the opening over as he removed Kadeer Ali and Alex Gidman to put Gloucestershire in serious trouble. Will Porterfield and Hamish Marshall tried to salvage the situation but then their stay was cut short by Phillips. Jon Lewis (23) helped to make the innings more respectable before before being sent back to the pavilion.

Trescothick then made the match a no contest as he produced a blistering innings to shut Gloucestershire out off the match as he almost single-handedly took Somerset past the finishing line
