The Bahamas cruised to another win in the ICC Americas (Central Division) Under-15 Tournament, taking place in Nassau, Bahamas. The final game of the tournament, between Belize and The Bahamas, secured The Bahamas as tournament champions. The Bahamas won the tournament without losing a single game.

 

Belize won the toss and elected to bat first. However, their innings was hampered with wickets falling steadily. Only opening batsman Lamont Russell made a respectable contribution with 35 runs, which included five 4’s. Belize was bowled out for 117 runs in 28.3 overs. The Bahamas’ Jermaine Adderley and Turan Brown took the most wickets with two each.

 

Set with a target of 117 runs, The Bahamas proceeded to reach their goal in a militaristic manner, requiring only 16.1 overs. Fresh off his maiden fifty, opening batsman Akash Gulati only managed 18 runs. However, his opening partner T. Brown picked up the slack and saw The Bahamas to their target with an unbeaten half century of his own. Batsman Ashmeid Allie chipped in with 21 not out.

 

The Bahamas, Cayman Islands, and Belize played each other two times each in a double round robin format, taking place from August 5th – August 10th. The winner being decided by which country emerged with the most wins. The final standings were Bahamas 4-0, Cayman Islands 2-2, and Belize 0-4. All teams involved showed great sportsmanship, and competitive spirit. The tournament provided a good display of the promise that each country has for cricket in the future.
