Bahamas under 15 cricketers remained unbeaten by defeating Belize in the ICC Americas Central Division Tournament match played today at Haynes Oval, Nassau, Bahamas. Belize won the toss and chose to bat first. And Bahamas skipper Abhiram Ramesh wasted no time and ripped through Belizes top order in a fine bowling spell that gave him four wickets for 10 runs in 6 overs. At the end of 14 overs Belize appeared to have totally collapsed with the scoreboard reading 28 for 5. However a determined effort by wicketkeeper Aaron Muslar and Glenroy Reynolds produced a 44 run partnership for the sixth wicket, lifting Belizes total score to 84 runs for nine wickets in 30 overs. Muslar remained unbeaten on 20 runs while Reynolds chipped in with 18. Ashmeid Allie ran through the tail by capturing 3 wickets for 17 runs.
The run chase was steady all the way with openers Turan Brown and Akash Galati posting 66 runs for Bahamas first wicket. Brown remained unbeaten on 44 runs as the home team grabbed another comfortable win by racing to 85 runs for the loss of one wicket in just 17.2 overs. Browns confident knock included six boundaries.
The tournament features The Bahamas, Cayman and Belize in a double round robin format. Todays match completes the first round in which The Bahamas leads the table with a 2-0 win loss record. Cayman is in second position (1-1) whilst Belize is still looking for a victory. Second round action begins on Saturday at 11.00 am and will feature Cayman and The Bahamas. The tournament concludes on Monday.
