The English women notched up a hard-fought two-wicket win to claim the five-match ODI series with an insurmountable 3-0 lead.

Choosing to field after winning the toss, England managed to restrict the Australians to 150/8 off the 29 overs that innings was restricted to.

Australia’s innings was created on a 75-run stand between Lisa Sthalekar (38) and Lauren Ebsary (40). However, both were dismissed at the same score of 102 and the Aussies could not recover. Nicki Shaw, Beth Morgan and Holly Colvin claimed two wickets apiece.

However, they made England work for every run and it was only a ninth-wicket stand of 18 runs between Jenny Gunn and Laura Marsh that carried England across the line, off the last ball of the innings.

Caroline Atkins scored a patient 35 and England got contributions all down the order to eke out the win. Ellyse Perry and Shelley Nitschke got two wickets each.
