North Division

Derbyshire innings was wobbling at 56 for 3 when Stuart Law brought in all his experience to take the score to some respectability. Derbyshire finally scored 153 in their 20 overs but the explosive opening pair of Warner and Mustard made the chase look like a stroll in the park. The openers put to sword the bowling attack as they put on 96 in just 9.1 overs. Warner, Coetzer and Mustard fell in quick succession, but Ian Blackwell saw them across the line, to keep Durham's hopes of qualifying for the quarter-finals alive.

South Division

Hampshire on the back of Lumb’s aggressive 93 reached a formidable total of 183 in their stipulated 20 overs. Middlesex in reply never threatened to overhaul the target even though Godleman made 57, the chase never materialised. While Godleman was at the crease Middlesex looked like overhauling the target but once he was trapped before the stumps by Tahir and Tremlett getting the crucial wickets of Morgan and Henderson, Middle sex lost direction. The win was crucial for Hampshire as the are now closing to the top of the table.

Midlands, Wales, West Division

In a thrilling chase of the Northamptonshire’s 133, Gloucestershire found an unlikely hero in Kadeer Ali as they huffed and puffed to reach 134 with one ball to spare and two wickets in hand. Ian Harvey was the mainstay of Northamptonshire's innings with 43 from 36 at the top of the order, but the rest of the batsmen failed to produce something worthwhile as they were dismissed for 133 in exactly 20 overs. Gloucestershire in reply were tottering at 122 for the loss of seven wickets when Kadeer Ali took charge of the chase and helped his team cross the line.

On the back of a couple of brutal innings from Stephen Moore who made 40 of 26 balls and Ben Smith’s 44 from 24 balls, Worcestershire was propelled to a formidable score of 176 in their 20 overs. But being a docile surface, the Somerset batsmen flexed their muscles to chase down the target with one over to spare. The tone for the chase was set when Trescothick brutalised the Worcestershire bowlers with an aggressive 34 in which the strike rate touched as astonishing 200, while Langer, Hildreth and Craig Kieswetter chipped in with useful scores to help Somerset beat Worcestershire by seven wickets.

Despite a belligerent knock from Dalrymple who scored 63 off 42 balls, Glamorgan could muster only 148 in their stipulated 20 overs. The untimely loss of Dalrymple in the fourteenth over robbed Glamorgan off the crucial momentum and the rest of the batsmen could not find the required boundaries. Jonathan Trott continued his impressive form, while Rikki Clarke cracked 24 from 21, as Warwickshire eased past Glamorgan by four wickets at Edgbaston, to create a fascinating three-way tussle at the top of the table with Northamptonshire and Somerset.
