Sri Lankan opening batsman Tillekeratne Dilshan may not have been able to guide his side to the Twenty20 World Cup trophy but he still managed to earn the player of the tournament honours.

Dilshan, who gave Sri Lanka sensational starts at the top of the order, including the new-fangled shot which may well be named the Dilshan, scored 317 runs in seven innings, with one not out. His top scored was an unbeaten 96 against the West Indies in the semi-finals.
Dilshan averaged 52.83 in the tournament and also chipped in with three catches.
