Brief profile of Roger Miller

MILLER, Roger.
Amateur.
Born at Reading, Berkshire, 20th April 1857.
Died at Lowestoft, Suffolk, 13th July 1912.
He was the son of William Miller of Hans Place, Chelsea, a solicitor. He was educated at Somerset College and at Uppingham, which he attended from August 1870 to June 1874. He went up to Jesus College, Cambridge and in 1881 played in three matches for the University, but did not win his blue. He played in four further first-class matches for the MCC 1882-84.
At the time of the 1881 Census he was living at 2 Swan Walk, Chelsea, London, aged 23 and unmarried, with his father William, aged 55 born at Walsham, Suffolk, a solicitor and his mother Laura, aged 48 born at Attleburgh, Norfolk. They have two domestic servants.
