CURRIE, Cecil Edmund.
Amateur.
Born at Bright Waltham, Berkshire, 4th April 1861.
Died at Staines, Middlesex, 2nd January 1937.
The son of the Rev. F.L.Currie of Hampshire, who played cricket for Cambridge University in 1845, he was educated at Marlborough College. He played cricket for Hampshire, taking part in 16 first-class matches for them 1881-85 and continuing to play for them after they lost first-class status until 1893. He went up to Trinity College, Cambridge, and played twice for the University in 1883, but not against Oxford at Lords. His uncles Fendall (Gentlemen of Kent), R.G. (Gentlemen of Surrey and Sussex) and W.C. (Gentlemen of Surrey and Sussex) and his cousin F.A.(MCC) also played first-class cricket. He became a solicitor and at one time was with Freshfields & Leece, 31 Old Jewry, London.
He cannot be found in the 1881 Census.
