Brief profile of A.M.Corbett

CORBETT, Alexander Melvin.
Amateur.
Born at Aston, Rotherham, Yorkshire, 25th November 1855.
Died at Kimberworth, Rotherham, Yorkshire, 7th October 1934.
A pattern maker by trade, he played his club cricket with the Elsecar team and turned out for Yorkshire in just the one match in 1881, without success.
The 1881 Census finds his unmarried, aged 26 and a wood model maker, living at 23 Tenter Street, Kimberworth, with his widowed mother Anne aged 69, and three sisters, Anne Mottram, widow aged 40, Jessie aged 35 and Marion aged 22, both dressmakers. Harry Corbett, a 6 year old grandson of Ann Corbett is also present.
